In order to follow the policy established
by the bishops in the state of Florida, all adults who will come in contact with the students of our
school must first be fingerprinted, fill out a volunteer application, and
submit the necessary paperwork for a criminal background check. The Florida
Department of Law Enforcement must return the volunteer's paperwork marked
"CLEARED" before any visits to the campus may begin. This includes
visits to the classroom, lunchroom, chaperoning on field
trips, and attendance at any class party. The
background clearance is valid for 7 years.
The bishops of Florida have taken yet
another step to insure the safety of our children by
establishing the Protecting God's Children program.
This program requires attending a class, but it should be attended only
by those adults who will have consistent contact with students in a supervisory
capacity. That means that the volunteer will be in charge of one
or more students without a school employee present.
We appreciate the many volunteers who work in our cafeteria, art room,
learning center, classrooms, etc.All
our volunteers will be asked to fill out character reference forms and
must be fingerprinted so the Diocese of St. Augustine can complete a
criminal background check.Volunteering
may begin only after the fingerprinting process is complete.(This process may take several weeks.)
PLEASE
SIGN IN AT THE OFFICE EACH TIME YOU COME TO VOLUNTEER.All parents are expected to wear a badge while on campus, whether
they will be in a classroom for just a few minutes or an extended period of
time.This will be of great
assistance to the office.
Listed below are the many committees and
activities where all of us could help St. Joseph's be a wonderful
environment for our children to learn and grow. Our children thrive with
the help of all the parents who volunteer at school. We have activities
for all parents. Whether you work in the home or out, you can lend a
loving hand.
