Pre-K Projects
Alphabet Bottle: Each child will also have the
chance to fill an alphabet bottle. Items
included in the bottle should begin with the letter of the week. Please use plastic
bottles such as p-nut butter jars, Gatorade bottles, mayo jars, etc with large
openings that are easy to fill. This is
optional, please sign up at orientation.
Feely Bag: Every Friday the Feely bag will be sent home with a
child. Please fill it with 3-5 items
that begin with the letter of upcoming week.
This is a tactile skill so items
need to be identifiable by touch.
We use this during circle time and each child will have a turn to “feel”
and guess what’s inside.
Class Pet: Each
child will have the opportunity to take Rudy home for a weekend. A book will accompany him. Please write about
your adventures with Rudy. Include
pictures if possible. The children love
to look at what their classmates did with Rudy.
Homework: Each week your child’s homework book will
come home (usually Thursdays) so they can complete their homework page by
Tuesday. Children should be able to
complete the phonics part with little supervision since it is a review of what
they learned in class all week. We do
ask that you sit, one on one, with your child to complete the tracing and
writing part. It is important for them to learn proper hand
placement and letter formation from the beginning. At the beginning of the
year, you may want to break up the homework into a couple of days.
