SQ3R – stands for: Survey             

                               Question

                                Read

                                Recite

                                Review

 

To Survey you: Read the title

                              Read the headings

                              Read the sub-headings

                              Look at the pictures and picture captions

                              Read the vocabulary words

                              Read the first and last paragraphs

 

You turn the title, headings, and sub-headings into questions.

 

When you recite you answer the questions you made up.

 

When you review you try to answer the review questions at the end of the section.

 

The Table of Content and the Title page are found at the beginning of the book

 

The Index is arranged in alphabetical order

 

Some ways people can take notes is: Process Notes (like the water cycle)

                                                           Cause and Effect Notes (like how weather causes changes in living things)

                                                            Two Column Notes

                                                            Cornell Notes

                                                            Note Cards

 

The KWL chart helps you understand new information because you can compare what you know to what you are learning. You can also try to find out what you want to learn.
